Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel bounced back from FP1’s trouble to top the timesheets before gearbox issues strike for the second time in Spielberg’s second session.

Kimi Raikkonen was third fastest in the other Ferrari, followed by Pastor Maldonado for Lotus, in a good session for the Enstone team.

Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton with more mistakes coming the world champion’s way. Both flying lap attempts ended up in mistakes - he had a few of those in FP1 too, and could only be fifth fastest overall.

For McLaren it was yet another difficult session with few laps, and just 34 laps completed, though they did get to try new a new short nose.
