Daniel Ricciardo wins a thrilling Chinese Grand Prix!

Ferrari looked strong all weekend long locking up the front row in qualifying with Sebastian Vettel taking pole at Shanghai. On the second row it was Bottas and a disappointed Lewis Hamilton, followed by the Red Bulls of Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo, who had to change power units after practice three and barely making it to qualifying on Saturday.

At the start of the race, Vettel covered Kimi but this allowed Bottas to take second place. On lap 30, Toro Rosso's Bahrain hero, Pierre Gasly crashed into his teammate, scattering debris across the track. The safety car was released, and Red Bull decided to pit both cars from 3rd and 5th, and fitting them with soft tires (yellow), while the leaders stayed on track with medium tires (white). The pace of the Red Bulls was to much for the others to resist, and starting overtaking the ones in front, until Verstappen hit Vettel at turn 14 spinning both cars. Vettel recovered in 7th place, but had floor damage and Alonso passed him in the McLaren.

A hungry Daniel Ricciardo showing masterful driving and took the lead from Bottas and won the Grand Prix. Raikkonen finished third and Verstappen fourth, but he was handed a 10 second penalty for the crash with Vettel, ending in 5th place. Hamilton was promoted to fourth. Championship leader Vettel finished in 8th.
